Lesson Planning: Instructional strategy

Case studies

Case studies are valuable to me as a teacher because they are student-centred and make the learners responsible for their own learning. I would like to use case studies more in my courses, largely because they are conducive to fostering higher levels of thinking, they emphasize application and they have high relevance for learners since they are related directly to the messy business of everyday life in the real world. The resource chosen is particularly helpful in offering guidelines for using case studies in class. The six points offered are an excellent preliminary outline for a case in my field (religious studies, ethics).
