Lesson planning: Assessment

Classroom Assessment Techniques (CAT's)

The reason why I selected classroom assessment techniques is that I am considering expanding my use of CAT’s in my own teaching. The chart that I found draws on the seminal book on the topic by Angelo and Cross. The chart is unusual because it includes information about advantages and disadvantages of the most common approaches. Being able to refer to this chart will keep me thinking about different ways that I can incorporate CAT’s in ways that help learners understand and process more of their learning, becoming more reflective, while also enabling me to understand more of what the learners are learning, where they are struggling, and how I can adjust my approach to teaching.
